More than 94% of the Surinamese population can read and write. Education is compulsory for children from 7 to 12 years of age. Kindergarten is not compulsory, but is well attended. The process starts from primary school to secondary education and career- oriented training. The average school day starts at 7:00 am and ends at 1:00 pm. In addition to standard education, there are a number of private schools that work in accordance with international guidelines. Would you like to continue your education?
